Rent, mortgage, utility and legal assistance programs are available through the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA).
The Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund overseen by IHDA is a federally-funded program that is dedicated to assisting Illinois homeowners that have struggled to pay their mortgage due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cook County Legal Aid for Housing and Debt (CCLAHD) is a county-wide initiative aimed at helping residents resolve eviction, foreclosure, debt, and tax deed issues through free legal aid, mediation services, case management, and connections to resources.
